This lightweight plastic brooch features 5 dangling Scotty Dogs suspended by an ornate chain link. This is an early piece that is highly collectible now. President Franklin D. Roosevelt's Scotty Dog Fala seems to have been the inspiration for such jewelry during this time period after the Great Depression. Dime store items were inexpensive and helped to brighten what were sometimes dark and difficult days. This little brooch is a perfect example of those times. Each dog measures 15/16" by 3/4". The hinged bar pin snaps nicely into place. There is some minor gold loss to the high points on a couple of the dogs but nothing that is too noticeable to the naked eye.
